Monday June 15 

 

“Train Like A Pro. Audition Like It’s Broadway.”

 

Learn original choreography from a Broadway show with a cast member from that production while picking up fun audition tips and tricks along the way. By running the choreography again in a fast-paced mock call-back, you will get a real taste of the dance audition process and what it’s like to move like a Broadway pro.

 

What You Need:

Sneakers you can dance in. Jazz shoes and character shoes (heels) are invited, but not required.

Tuesday June 16 

 

“Harmonize & Hustle”

 

Work with a Musical Director to build strong ensemble harmonies while learning fun tips and tricks for picking up music quickly in a rehearsal process. As you combine singing with choreography and work on individual vocal pieces, you will gain confidence and skills for vocal auditions and performing like a pro. 

 

What You Need:

A recording device (this can be your phone.) If you would like to participate in the one-on-one training during the Audition Etiquette portion, you may bring a song from your songbook to use for our mock audition. It should be a song that you are familiar with and have the sheet music to. Participation in the one-on-one is not required. We will provide sheet music for the group for the song we are learning.

“Putting On A Show: Technical Theatre and All That Jazz”

 

Get ready to dive into the exciting world behind the scenes, exploring the basics of lighting and sound design, from colorful lighting effects to the equipment that powers live theatre. With hands-on experience trying on microphones and running sound for their performance pieces, you will discover how tech magic brings a show to life.

 

What You Need: Your creativity!

Thursday June 18

 

“Centre Stage Magic!”

 

On the final day of the workshop, you’ll take the stage, show off all your new skills, and shine in an exciting community performance!

 

What you’ll need: Black pants or shorts, the dance shoes you’re most comfortable dancing in, and a white top.

 

Please note: Family and friends are invited to the “Community Presentation,” so spread the word! All RSVPs for the community presentation need to be in by Tuesday, June 16th.
