SCHOLARSHIPS
These scholarships were established by the Coweta County Board of Education, the Patrons of the Nixon Centre, the Newnan Coweta Art Association, Greg and Cindy Owens and the family of Anne Quinn Powell. They are maintained by the Patrons of the Centre, Inc. and funded by the Patrons of the Centre, Newnan Coweta Art Association, Greg and Cindy Owens and the family of Anne Quinn Powell. The goal of these scholarships is to honor students for their accomplishments and excellence in the different fields of the arts.
2022 Scholarship Recipients
Anne Quinn Powell Fine Arts Grand Scholarship Award
The Anne Quinn Powell Fine Arts Scholarship was established by the Coweta County Board of Education and is maintained and funded by the Patrons of the Centre, Inc. The goal of this scholarship is to promote the study of the Fine Arts; including Visual Arts, Music, Voice, and Dance. The scholarship is designed to encourage participation in the arts and reward the students who will enrich the cultural environment in their community and is available to deserving senior level students attending accredited high schools within Coweta County.
All applicants are eligible for this award.
Judges will award the Grand Scholarship to the most promising candidate.
Richard Brooks Fine Arts Scholarship
The Richard Brooks Fine Arts Scholarship was established by the Coweta County Board of Education and is maintained and funded by the Patrons of the Centre, Inc. This goal of this scholarship is to promote the study of the Fine Arts; including Visual Arts, Music, Voice, and Dance. The scholarship is designed to encourage participation in the arts and reward the students who will enrich the cultural environment in their community and is available to deserving senior level students attending accredited high schools in Coweta County.

Wynn Handman Scholarship
The Wynn Handman Scholarship was established by the Patrons of the Centre, Inc. to promote the study of the Theater. The scholarship is available to a deserving senior level student attending an accredited high school within Coweta County and is designed to encourage participation in the arts and rewards the student who will enrich the cultural environment in his community. Mr. Handman, a friend to the Centre and Patrons, has been labeled as a pioneer of the 21st century American Theatre. Having taught acting for over 60 years, he is the artistic director of the American Place Theatre in New York City, which he co-founded with Sidney Lanier and Michael Tolan in 1962. The mission of the American Place Theatre was to produce shows that were "too far off" for Broadway. Therefore this endeavor leads to the beginning of what is now referred to as "Off Broadway."

Harriet Owens Alexander Scholarship
The Harriet Owens Alexander Arts Scholarship was established by Greg and Cindy Owens to honor Harriet Alexander and her commitment to the arts in Coweta County and is maintained and funded by the Patron’s of the Centre, Inc. The goal of this scholarship is to promote the study of the Arts. The scholarship is designed to encourage participation in the arts and reward the students who will enrich the cultural environment in their community and is available to deserving senior level students attending accredited high schools within Coweta County.

Masterworks Community Chorale Scholarship
The Masterworks Community Chorale Scholarship was established by Masterworks Community Chorale and is maintained and funded by the Patrons of the Centre, Inc. The scholarship is available to a deserving senior level student attending an accredited high school within Coweta County and is designed to encourage participation in the arts and rewards the student who will enrich the cultural environment in his community.
